YouTube Editing Fails Every Marketer Needs to Avoid

YouTube Editing Fails Every Marketer Needs to Avoid

Over 2 billion people around the world use YouTube to watch videos of all sorts. No wonder why more and more people want to get access to this huge audience by becoming YouTubers. However, being a YouTuber is not that easy. Poor video content can act as a barrier to your growth. You might even lose your hard-earned subscribers. To ensure that this does not happen you need to avoid these common YouTube fails.

1. Not planning the video content:

As a new YouTuber, you might get excited to quickly make videos and upload them to see people’s reactions. Before doing so, you must plan the layout of your videos or you will have a hard time filming them. Moreover, if the creator is unsure about what he wishes to communicate, the chances of viewers understanding the same is next to none.

The vision that you have set for a given video plays a crucial role in the editing process as well. At the time of video editing, keep in mind the intent of your video and the target audience. It is advisable to frame a script and use it as a guideline.

2. Using poor audio:

Poor or inconsistent audio can significantly bring down the overall quality of your content on YouTube. When it comes to audio, you have to primarily take care of two components- the voice and the background music. If the background music overpowers the voice and vice-versa, most viewers will find it extremely disturbing and would stop watching the video.

To ensure that your audio does not come in the way of effective YouTube marketing, maintain a blend of the voice and the music throughout the video. If you do not need the original audio of the clips, do not forget to remove it beforehand.

3. Improper matching of video pace, and music:

In video content, music plays a dominant role in driving the pace of production. Therefore, the choice of music must be proper and match the speed of the video. For example, if you are using fast-paced music, the animations and the pace of the clips should be fast too. For longer shots, slow-paced music and softer transitions work well. To give your audience a comfortable and impressive viewing experience, select your soundtracks carefully and edit the pace of visuals such that they match the track.

4. Unattractive creatives:

To grab the attention of people on YouTube, you must invest some time in creating eye-catchy visually appealing graphics. Your thumbnail or cover image is the first thing that viewers see. If it fails to attract them, you are likely to get lesser views, likes, and subscribers.

The best practice in terms of designing the graphics is to keep a consistent font type, size, and colors throughout the video. Do not change the color palette frequently. At the same time, make sure that your text is neither distracting nor hard to read.

5. Incomplete transition effects:

Incomplete transition refers to a situation where the transition effect is longer than the length of the previous clip. This is one of the most common video fails that YouTubers tend to make. Video editors often place transition effects between two clips. If the length of the previous clip and the transition do not match, the viewer ends up watching a blank screen in between. This looks highly unprofessional and hampers the experience of the viewers. To avoid making such mistakes, adjust your transition time in a way that the outbound clips extend long enough to support the transition.

Video making and editing is an art that you need to master to become a successful YouTuber. Remember these tips to fasten your way up that ladder!
